I can last more than 8 minutes with one breath under water
Most people refer to the film "The Big Blue" when asked how or why they got into the sport. I have seen the film, but for me the story started with a completely different motivation.
As a PhD student I won a scholarship to study the physiology of freediving. Like any normal researcher, I started by experimenting on myself. First ,I practiced static apnea in a basin, then in radiology during ultrasound and MR scans. At the end of the experiment, the measured data confirmed that I had the potential, so I enrolled in a course and started to train regularly..
Already in the first months I felt that I was improving rapidly, and that I could stay underwater for longer and longer periods. It was only a matter of time before I found the Hungarian results of that time. I was surprised to see that there was not much difference between those numbers and my training results. After almost 1.5 years, it gave me new momentum and motivation.
My results
- In 2018, I participated in my first competition, where I won 2 medals in the newbie category. Since then, I have been a regular competitor.
- It was at the beginning of 2019 (DYN – Dynamic Apnea) that I managed to break the Hungarian record for the first time.
- Since then, I have set 19 new national records in various apnea events in the last 3 years.
- Based on my results in 2021, I am ranked 10th in the overall male ranking of AIDA. This year, I was awarded the title “Apnea Athlete of the Year” by the Hungarian Diving Federation.
- I obtained my first instructor's degree in 2020, and since then I have been teaching beginner and advanced level courses, in training camps, holding training sessions and individual coaching.
- In 2022, I received a PhD in Sport Sciences partly for my research in the field of freediving. Since that time, I have continued monitoring the latest scientific publications on the subject.
In addition to using the latest training methods, I aim to contribute to the development of the sport through my own studies, measurements and developments. These are some of the things I would like to pass on in my courses and training sessions.
